524231 bioweapons_status_hist_num   The variable identifies whether a country ever pursued, possessed, or used biological weapons, using information from Arms Control Association (2022), Nuclear Threat Initiative (2022), Center for Nonproliferation Studies (2008) and the UN (2022). A country is coded as having pursued biological weapons if it increased its capabilities or had a dedicated program. A country is coded as having possessed biological weapons if it had weapons which it could have delivered. The closest a country got to using biological weapons ever is recorded. The variable also identifies when a country was alleged by another country of pursuing, possessing, or using biological weapons, but these allegations have not been confirmed by the country itself or impartial observers. A country receives a score of 0 if it neither pursued nor possessed biological weapons, a score of 1 if it allegedly pursued them, a score of 2 if it pursued them, a score of 3 if it allegedly possessed them, a score of 4 if it possessed them, and a score of 5 if it used biological weapons. 2022-09-05 12:05:28 2023-06-15 05:05:42       5679 26703
