The weights are the quantity averages of 1989-1991. The formulas used are of the Laspeyres type.Indices for food products include commodities that are considered edible and contain nutrients, except for animal feed products and alcoholic beverages. Coffee and tea are also excluded because, although edible, they have practically no nutritive value.
